The Gambia also known as the smiling coast is a popular year round destination with average daily sunshine ranging between 8-10 hours throughout the year. July, August and September see an average of 6 hours whilst temperatures still stand at 29-31 degrees still very acceptable as a sun holiday.
Temperatures inland can reach as high as 42 degrees whilst the cooling brings reduces it to around 30 degrees. Sao Nicolau is undeveloped and its natural appearance of rugged mountains which hosts the endangered dragon tree attracts bird watchers. The remaining islands are less developed but still boast beautiful sand beaches and warm waters and a slim spattering of bars restaurants and accommodation with access mainly by ferries although an inter-island air service is available.
